Description

Context: As the world population gallops, the ecological resources of the planet have come under severe strain. This has led to individuals and their communities vying aggressively for sustenance and growth. In the process, modern citizens have forgotten the art of relaxation.

We do not stretch properly, breathe rightly, eat correctly, digest well or excrete satisfactorily. As a result, the body does not adequately rid itself of toxins. The blood remains impure, and the immune system is weakened. This leads to stiffness, headaches, skin eruptions, colds and flu as well as menstrual and reproductive problems. Psychosomatic diseases like migraine, asthma, diabetes, and ulcer are also an inadvertent outcome of the contemporary living conditions.

Modern medical science has failed to find a cure for all of these. This is largely due to its failure to adopt a holistic approach towards the treatment of disease and the maintenance of health.

On the other hand, the classical system of yoga adopts a comprehensive approach to help human beings achieve good health, emotional equanimity, mental peace, and intellectual clarity. This ancient science provides a variety of tools to fit diverse physiques, personalities, and lifestyles. Yogic techniques address and harmonize the physical, mental, moral and spiritual aspects of the personality. Sincere and consistent practice leads to a healthy body, a clear mind and a resilient spirit.
